Health Groups Protesting Against the Ban on Generic Drugs

Generic drugs are now become so necessary components that each and every customer today is purchasing only the generic drugs rather than the branded drugs. But, US government has recently cancelled many of the shipments of the generic drugs outside the US, which has lead to protest by the local health groups. The US govt. and FDA in accordance have seized the import of the generic drugs because they have found out that these generic drugs are of inferior quality. But, in reality the ban was put on the other country generic drugs because of the pressure from the branded drugs manufacturers.

The generic drugs were very similar in effect like the branded drugs but were very much less priced than the branded drugs. This made the generic drugs as the favorite choice of the customers and everyone was only going for the generic drugs rather than branded drugs. This really made the branded drug companies suffer lose, which certainly led these companies to put the pressure on the govt. and ban the generic drugs.

Generic drugs companies were not only being doing a hardcore marketing but also being favored by the govt. so, in short duration of time generic drugs became very famous and favorite choice of the customers. Actually no side effect cases were noted by the generic drugs, but it were all the rumors spread by the branded drugs manufacturer that lead to the ban of the generic drugs. US govt. was also in the favor of the generic drugs but due to the lot of the pressure from the pharmacy giants it has to put the ban of the generic drugs. This has lead to the outburst in the people against the Obama govt. But, this ban would not stay for the long time because many health groups are protesting against this ban. Generic drugs are the drugs that are liked by everyone so nobody would be able to block their supply for long time.

International Health and Trade organizations like Knowledge Ecology International, Oxfam International, Health Action International, etc have written the letters to the US govt. and FDA to lift the ban on generic drugs explaining them that generic drugs are absolutely safe and are the need of the time. Even the protests are being carried out all over the country to make the govt. know that how efficient and necessary are the generic drugs. Generic drug manufacturers have also asked the govt. officials to visit their manufacturing units if they have any problems regarding the safety of the generic drugs. They are asking them to lift the ban as soon as possible because this is affecting there business a lot and there drugs may also expire before they could reach the patient.

The customers as well as local health organizations had written letters to the World Health Organization and FDA explaining them the efficacy and safety of the generic drugs and have asked these organizations to force the govt. to lift the ban on generic drugs. Generic drugs are the exact replica of the branded drugs and contain the same active ingredient so how is it possible that it can cause more side effects? Is the question that is asked by every customer to the medicine shop vendors. Even the insurers are also supporting the generic drugs along with the people because they are also able to earn surplus benefits due to the use of generic drugs by the people. Generic drugs are approved only after it undergoes the FDA trails so there is no reason to ban the generic drugs as they are verified by the FDA. So, this way a protest is led by the Health groups to once again bring back the generic drugs option to US and make it available to the consumers.
