blood pressureErectile dysfunction is related to the blood pressure. Latest research conducted had put the light on the new topic of relation of erectile dysfunction with the high blood pressure. Erectile dysfunction is defined as the condition in which men are not able to get the erection or sustain the erection for the longer period of time. Erectile dysfunction was previously reported to be linked to the diabetes, heart attacks, and obesity. But, the latest study has declared that it is linked to high blood pressure also. So it is an alarming situation for all the men to keep their blood pressure in control otherwise they may fail in the bed because of erectile dysfunction.

High Blood pressure is called as hypertension; it means increase in the pressure in arteries because of increased blood flow. High blood pressure is defined into two types, essential or primary hypertension and secondary hypertension. The causes of hypertension is high intake of salt i.e. more than 5.8 grams of salt daily. Other cause of high blood pressure is emotional tensions. High blood pressure increases the pressure of blood on the arteries, which in turn puts the lots of pressure on the arteries and may result in the damaging of the arteries not only in the region near to heart but all over the body. The arteries which supply blood to the penis are thin as compared with the arteries in the heart, so penile arteries could get damaged and the flow to the penis gets stop leading to the erectile dysfunction.

High blood pressure may sometimes lead to the hardening of the arteries because they lose their elasticity, thus the blood supply to the penis is reduced and the person is unable to hold the erection. Even the deposition of the plaque due to excess of salt in the body decreases or stops the supply of blood to the organs. Hence, less amount of blood is supplied to the penis and it causes erectile dysfunction.

The study was conducted to study the relationship between the erectile dysfunction and high blood pressure. The study revealed that among the 100 men having high blood pressure, 80 men were found to be suffering from the sex-related diseases and out of these 75 men were found to have problems with the erections.

Thus, it was clear that men should keep the blood pressure in control to remain away from the erectile dysfunction.
